So much time has passed...

I am really not sure what to say these days. Life has definitely had it's ups and downs this year.

I guess i'll start by talking about how weird it was that my last post was Martina McBride's song "I'm Gonna Love You Through It". That was posted last December. Little did I know that cancer was going to creep into my family and threaten to destroy everything I love. In March of 2012 my mom went to her family physician to try and remedy some issues she was having. He made an assessment and then sent her to an OB/GYN. The OB did further testing and discovered that she had two masses. One I believe was on her cervix and then they found one in the lining of her uterus. They quickly did some biopsies. Then one night as I was headed into the bank I received a phone call from my mom. She confirmed our worst fears. Cancer! At her doctors urging she went to CfAM to get a second opinion. This doctor verified that it was cancer and that mom had a good shot at beating it.

Several weeks later Dad and I sat and waiting patiently while my mom underwent surgery to remove all of her reproductive organs along with several lymph nodes. Thank goodness for good friends and family. The Pastor at their church came in before mom went into surgery and was able to pray with us. Several good friends also came by while we waiting. Thanks Bev, Jim, Shirley, John and Barb! Let me also thank my brother in law Bob for also calling to check on us that day.

After a couple of hours Dad and I were summond to meet with the doctor. It was then we were told that mom would be just fine. As long as the lymph nodes came back clear there would be no radiation and therefore no chemo. It was a weight lifted for sure.

Poor mom didn't have a great recovery though. She was there longer than originally planned since she was unable to keep any food or liquid down. Luckily things progressed and worked themselves out.

Today my mother is cancer free and spending her time outside of work spending lots of time with her grandkids!

Mom - I am so proud of you and how strong you were throughout everything! We love you so much!

I'm Gonna Love You Through It

What a perfect song for those going through a battle with cancer.

Cuddle Time...

This morning there was zero fighting with my youngest to get dressed.

This morning my smallest of six decided he was too tired to fuss and fight.

This morning I saw a glimpse of my little 3 lb 4 oz baby.

This morning that same little boy warmed my heart.

This morning that growing little man decided he wanted to be my baby again.

Those moments in life should always be cherised and never forgotten. Today I was reminded that my youngest is 3 and growing and that even though he can be a little meany he always loves his mommy.

Here is to all moms everywhere...

80's were all that...

Today I thought about all the 80's music I love. I decided that I am going to share them here. Most of you are probably thinking how can you love 80's music when you were only born in 1980. The answer to that is that I have ALWAYS loved music. I listened to just about anything I could get my hands on. My older brother also loved music so he introduced me to a lot of great music! Movies were another great way to discover great 80's music. DISCLAIMER: Some of these songs were written earlier than the 80's but made a re-appearance in the 80's.

Let me start by saying I am not the biggest Michael Jackson fan but I did love some of his songs such as:

One - Yī
Two - Èr
Three - Sān
Four - Sì
Five - Wŭ
Six - Liù
Seven - Qī
Eight - Bā
Nine - Jiŭ
Ten - Shí

One-Ten in Chinese!

When learning Mandarin Chinese it's important to know what sound goes with what tone.

Tone Mark Description
1st dā High and level
2nd dá Starts medium in tone, then rises to the top
3rd dǎ Starts low, dips to the bottom, then rises toward the top
4th dà Starts at the top, then falls sharp and strong to the bottom

When a 3rd tone comes right after another 3rd tone then it's said in the 2nd tone!

Let me just say for the record that NOTHING about learning Chinese is easy. It's something that I am finding that is difficult but rewarding when I can say and understand things my co-workers are saying!

Ni hao ma

Learning to speak Chinese...not an easy feat!

Lately a couple of my co-workers have been trying to teach me their native language.  I find it absolutely fascinating.

Ni hao ma - How are you?

Ming tian ni de baogua jiang ji chu - Your package will ship out tomorrow.

Sa gua - Silly

Wo ai ni - I love you

These are just a few of the things I have learned to say.  It really is a very neat language and my teacher Tao says I am very smart!

I'm still alive...

At least I think I am. So I really do not do well with this blog thing at all. I was really hoping that I would do better in 2010 with blogging but that kind of went right out the window. Here is hoping 2011 will bring me better blogging skills.

Grilled Chicken w/Lemon Pasta...

Let me be the first to tell you all that I don't try new recipes very often. It's not that I can't, I just won't. I am a very picky eater so I generally don't make things unless I think I will like them.

Two days ago I came across a recipe for Grilled Chicken w/Lemon Basil Pasta on The Pioneer Woman. First, if you haven't gone to this site then I suggest you do so immediately. There is a little of everything. Ree, is an amazing city girl who now lives on a ranch. The sections include confessions, cooking, photography, home and garden, home schooling and she has a site to share recipes called Tasty Kitchen. This woman is AMAZING! Second, you NEED to try this recipe. Larry and I absolutely loved it! I did our chicken a little differently but I think the pasta is what makes it taste oh so yummy! I'm so glad I branched out a little and tried it.

Well that's all I have for today. I should have taken pictures and that would have made this post even better. Follow the link above for pictures of the finished product from Ree!

It's been a long time!

I realize that it has been a long time since I have posted to this blog. I don't have tons of time during the day to post and our computer at home has been broken. Luckily we were given an old computer and are using that which means that you will be getting more posts in the near future which will include LOTS of pictures. For now I will leave you with one of my favorites from our trip to Florida this past December.

This morning I get the privilage of attending the breakfast the school holds each month for kids chosen Student of the Month. This month Larry was chosen for his class. As I was typing my original blog it dawned on me that I never posted about our Students of the Month last September.

Chase and Tyler were SOTM in September but due to Larry being in the hospital we were unable to attend. This morning its Larrys turn. I will post pictures later.

Christmas in Florida

Santa came early for our kids this year. To our surprise he came to the house while we were at my sister in law's house. We were absolutley shocked to see their reaction when they walked through the door. As usual Santa got each of them lots of things from their lists and several things that weren't. After everyone had open their presents a letter was found. We opened it and showed it to the kids and they were in complete and utter shock. The letter read "Dear Price Family, Merry Chrismtas! I hope that you had a good year and I hope that next year will bring you lots of fun times. Now... Pack your bags you're going to Disney World.

Yup that's right folks Santa Claus sent our family to Sunny Orlando Florida. I threw the kids for a loop when I told them they only had 20 minutes to pack. Once everyone was ready and in the Yukon we drove to my mom's house for Christmas with my side of the family.

We left mom's at around 9:30 and drove until Nashville where we slept in a hotel for a couple of hours. Christmas morning we continued our drive and got into Florida at around 8:00 Florida time.

The first night we ended up at McDonalds. I know what your thinking, yes I did say McDonalds but this wasn't just any McDonalds, this was the biggest playplace in the world. The kids had a good time but I was already missing Chandler. He stayed home with my mom this time around. Once we left we decided to get showered and sleep.

First thing Saturday morning we went to Downtown Disney where we walked around and took in all there was to see down there. We also had a pretty good lunch at Planet Hollywood.

That same afternoon we decided to head out to Cocoa Beach Pier so that the kids could see the ocean. They had a great time.

The Seagulls were walking on top of the awning and I just loved to watch their little feet. We also saw Pelicans. I never knew they were so HUGE.

Here are all the kids "surfing" :)

Later that night after we got cleaned up we decided to visit Old Town. This was a neat place. They had shops up and down the street, vendors selling these really yummy pork and chicken kabobs. They also had one huge carnival that is all year round.

Larry just couldn't stay away from the Karaoke!

We had such a fun day that we all crashed as soon as we got to the hotel. Sunday we decided to take a drive the other direction and head to the white sand beach in Clearwater. Wow was it beautiful. They kids had a great time digging things up and fiding the most gorgeous shells. Here are a few photos for now.

We had lunch at Frenchies and everyone had a good time.

Well folks that's all your gonna for now...Magic Kingdom and Sea World up in a few days.

The tree

Here it is in all it's glory... :)

_IGP2567

Yes we decided to wrap the front window. Hey it made the kids happy!

Here is a picture I took for fun. I don't have a tripod and the only stable thing I had to set the camera on was piano bench. That is why it's only the lower portion of the tree...
